Jan. 2, 2024 — Big show announcement, last minute: We’re playing the Floridian Social in downtown St. Petersburg, this Thursday, Jan. 4 from 7 to 10 pm; also, note that our New Tampa Performing Arts Center show has been rescheduled for Sunday, May 12 from 3 to 5 pm. Come see us!

Dec. 31, 2023 — We had a year of good shows. But we also mourned the passing of Pat Close, our former drummer, a great musician and all-around good guy. His death, from pancreatic cancer, was a huge personal loss for all of us, and a big blow to the Tampa Bay area jazz community. We miss you, Pat the Cat!

Sept. 15, 2023 — (This show is postponed to Sunday, May 12) BIG show ahead: We play the beautiful, newly opened New Tampa Performing Arts Center on Sunday, Nov. 19 at 3 pm. Dec. 6, 2021 — We continue to roll on jazz radio. In the most recent report, we notched 12 spins on Miami’s WLRN, and 5 on Boston’s WGBH! So far, we’ve been played on about 25 jazz and community radio stations around the country. Thanks, radio people!

June 16, 2021 — It’s official — we’re having a baby! We mean, a new album: Sharkskin releases Aug. 27, 2021 on the Solar Grooves label. It’ll be available for streaming, and as a CD and download. We’re reaching out to press and radio now. Stay tuned
May 4, 2021 — One more mix session, then on to mastering, package design and manufacturing. Our second CD, Sharkskin, is coming soon! Post-pandemic gigs are picking up, with private events and a few club shows and concerts recently and ahead (see the “shows” tab).

April 5, 2021 — We’re continuing mixing sessions for the new album at the Springs Theatre. Looking forward to releasing it later this year. It will include “augmented” versions of “Phil’s Blues” and “Sharkskin,” as well as “Rumba Misterioso” and several other tracks, including some with various horn players and a guest singer. Stay tuned!

March 29, 2021 — Happy to report that “Phil’s Blues” had a nice reception, and, like the other two singles we released in 2020, got airplay on WUSF and WMNF.

March 27, 2021 — Our big upcoming show for the Clearwater Jazz Holiday-affiliated Wanderlust Series, is sold out! It takes place Friday. April 9 at Evy’s on top of the Hampton Inn on Clearwater Beach.

July 8, 2020 — Big news: “Phil’s Blues,” our third 2020 single, releases July 24! Stay tuned.

March 12-13, 2020 — Those days were the last Thursday and Friday nights we played Timpano Chophouse in Tampa’s Hyde Park Village before the pandemic-caused shutdown of all gigs, practically everywhere. We first played Timpano in 2012, and started our twice-a-week residency there in March 2014. Really looking forward to playing together again soon.

Jan. 29, 2020 — The “Rumba Misterioso” video has officially launched on YouTube and our Facebook page. The video, essentially a short film created by our friend Pavlos Hatzigeorgiou, intercuts between shots of the band on the stage at Replay Guitar Exchange in south Tampa, and dancers Molly Ahler and Stefan Dolbashian (Florida Dance Theatre) at the Italian Club of Tampa, in Ybor City.

Jan. 24, 2020 — Our “Rumba Misterioso” single is now available everywhere!

Jan. 17, 2020 — “Rumba Misterioso,” the long-awaited first single from our recent Springs Theatre sessions, is ready for launch! It will be available Jan. 24 on all digital platforms — for streaming and download. The Latin jazz tune features Matt Swenson on electric guitar, Bryan Lewis on acoustic grand piano, Philip Booth on upright bass, Pat Close on drums, Michael Washington on congas, and Peggy Morris on flute. We’ll also be releasing an accompanying video. Stay tuned for details!

Sept. 9, 2019 — Great turnout and crowd response for our show Saturday night at The Independent in Seminole Heights! Bryan, Matt, Philip and drummer Michael Washington were joined by a horn section — saxophonist Rick Runion and trombonist Ted Murphy. Acme returns to Ella’s in Seminole Heights for a show Sunday, Oct. 13 from 3 to 6 pm.

Aug. 1, 2019 — Did you catch our latest round of press? In their features on Tampa Bay area jazz, the Tampa Bay Times and Creative Loafing told readers about our regular gig at Timpano.

Dec. 15, 2016 -- Our CD was one of 2016's Top 30 most-played albums on WMNF! We're No. 23, between De La Soul and Van Morrison. Good company to keep. Thanks much to program director Randy Wind and "Colors of Jazz" co-hosts Scott Hopkins and Thomas Dickens.

Tuesday, NOV. 1, 2016 -- Still more big shows ahead: We play the Safety Harbor Wine Festival on Saturday, Nov. 5, from 9:30 to 11; and Dunedin Brewery on Saturday, Nov. 19.

Monday, OCT. 31, 2016 -- "Mr. G.P.," a Meters-style tune from our CD, is #38 on this year's Top 55 Jazz Tracks list at www.jazzploration.com, put together by DJ Kendo, jazz director at WFCF 88.5 in St. Augustine. That track, if you recall, features a horn section -- Ron Wilder on trumpet, Rick Runion on tenor sax, and Austin Vickrey on bari sax. Check it out!

Monday, OCT. 24, 2016 -- We had a fantastic time tonight playing at Replay Guitar Exchange in south Tampa, opening for renowned Brazilian singer-guitarist-songwriter Badi Assad. Lots of fun playing on the Replay stage and mingling with fans of Badi and Acme, and many musician friends. Thursday, SEPT. 29, 2016 -- Creative Loafing loves us! Last night at the Mahaffey Theater in St. Petersburg, we received the CL Best of the Bay Critics' Choice award for Best Jazz-Jam Fusion. In her award citation, Leilani Polk says our CD "showcases their brand of jazz-funk line-blurring and maintains their dynamic live appeal even with its impeccable production qualities" and calls it "one fine musical infusion." Thanks, CL, Leilani and new CL music critic Ray Roa!

SEPT. 14, 2016 -- After 17 weeks, our CD is still on the Jazzweek chart. We've been played on nearly 30 radio stations across the country, including public jazz stations, commercial jazz stations, and community radio stations. We're really excited to reach so many listeners with our music.

SEPT. 1, 2016 -- Three big shows coming up: Saturday, Oct. 1 at 8 at The Independent in Tampa; Saturday, Oct. 29 at 8 at The Palladium in St. Petersburg, with special guests Rick Runion, saxophone, and Dwayne White, trumpet; and Saturday, Nov. 19 at 9 at the Dunedin Brewery. We still play every Thursday & Friday night at Timpano in Hyde Park Village. Come see us!  

AUGUST 15, 2016 -- Our CD is close to breaking into the Top 100 CDs for nationwide airplay on the Jazzweek radio-play chart. So far, we've been played on more than 25 stations across the US! (See the full list on our Radio Play page)

NOVEMBER 30, 2018 — We’re closing out the year with two private holiday parties (Dec. 1 & Dec. 15). Earlier this year, we played dates at Ella’s and The Independent, and we recorded four new tracks of original music at the Springs Theatre. Looking to finish those soon and release them in 2019. We continue to play Thursday and Friday nights at Timpano Italian Chophouse in Hyde  Park Village, Tampa.
